Every teacher in the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and all other Emirates) also needs to acquire a teaching license. Let’s see what it means and how to get it.
Teacher Licensing is the latest initiative undertaken by the Ministry of Education in the UAE. You can start working as a teacher in the UAE without the teacher license, however, the Government of the UAE mandates all the teachers in the UAE to be licensed before 2021. Only those teachers can apply for a teaching license who are already working with a school.
If you have a subject qualification as well as a teaching qualification, you can apply for a teacher license in the UAE with your school’s support.
If you have a subject qualification and a teacher preparation qualification, you can apply for a teacher license in the UAE, with the relevant documents.
There are 2 steps to this process:
Step 1: Enrollment with the Ministry of Education
Step 2: Acquiring the Teaching License
Let us discuss both these steps.
Step 1 requires you to submit all your qualification documents, visa documents along with other verification documents in the prescribed format to the Ministry of Education. If the Ministry of Education of the UAE finds that all your documents are valid and meet their prescribed requirements, you are enrolled into the licensing system.
Step 2 begins as soon as your enrollment is complete. After enrollment, you are required to give a licensing exam. If you qualify the examination you can continue working as a teacher in the UAE. Also, this teaching license needs to be renewed every three years.
